Troubles in Texas Heating Up

Texas officially separated from the United States of America in January of 1861 after only 16 years of statehood. This separation led to its ultimate entry into the Confederacy, where it was to play a crucial role funneling in supplies for Confederate troops during the Civil War. The Confederate States of America was a government system set up by 11 Southern slave states from 1861 until 1865.  It was never officially recognized by any other nation in the world.  Although conflict had been simmering between pro-slavery and anti-slavery advocates for decades, the United States of America regarded this separation as illegal.
