Chocolate and Romance – February 11, 2017, 11:00-3:00

Experience romantic customs through the ages at Northampton County Historical and Genealogical Society’s popular (and delicious!) Chocolate and Romance event.

Colonial Courtship at 1753 Bachmann Publick House (2nd & Northampton Streets) – Sample the patriotic chocolate drink that was more popular than coffee or tea, learn about colonial courtship customs, and listen to readings from Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice.

Victorian Valentines at 1833 Mixsell-Illick House (4th & Ferry Streets)  – View antique valentines and Victorian scrapbooks, sip flower elixirs, learn the romantic secret language of flowers, create your own chocolate valentine, and listen to excerpts from period romance Jane Eyre.

Modern Romance at the Sigal Museum (342 Northampton Street)  – Sample wine and chocolates and bring a novel or two for our Romance Book Swap (bring one book, get one free or choose multiple books and donate to NCHGS).
