Behind the Scenes: A Plethora of Petticoats

What does fashion tell us about history?

Join NCHGS Fashion Coordinator Kathleen Coddington at the Sigal Museum for a behind-the-scenes talk on our latest fashion and textile exhibit. Then join us for a private tour of A Plethora of Petticoats and enjoy light refreshments at the Mixsell-Illick House.

This exhibition “undresses” the history of common undergarments, leisurewear, and more. We showcase an array of undergarments that created the fashionable silhouettes worn by Northampton County residents from the 1700s to the 1950s, along with some of the chic and comfortable at-home wear they donned as they relaxed or went about their daily tasks. Ooh, la, la!

Free with museum admission or $5 program only. Proceeds help preserve our historic Mixsell-Illick House.
