Quilts illustrate the story of women. Michele McLaughlin and Beth Bacher will discuss the 55 years after the Civil War and the new confidence women exhibited with over 30 different examples of quilts and textiles. Learn about the foundation of modern quilting and how women used their courage, creativity–and quilts– to achieve social and political changes.

About Michele McLaughlin and Beth Bacher
Michele McLaughlin is a quilt collector and has lectured about quilt history for over a decade. She was previously employed by the United States House of Representatives and was an administrator at Cedar Crest College. Beth Bacher is the owner of Backstitch Quilts and has taught quilting in both Pennsylvania and New Jersey. Beth is also a quilt collector and her specialty is quilt conservation and restoration.
