A Celebration of the Black Presence in Easton, part 2: Sister Circle

February 19, 2019, 7:00-9:00 pm, co-sponsored by NAACP Easton Branch #2260

Join us for a celebration of Black History Month and a continuation of last year’s story-sharing evening. Community members will reminisce about African American life in Easton and Northampton County over the past 60 years. The focus of this year’s event will be on women’s experiences. Come listen to the Sister Circle and hear about:

  • Lifestyle – women and work
  • Social organizations (Freedom Fund Banquet and the Debutante Ball)
  • Health and beauty
  • Education and athletics
  • Religion (spiritual life, community, and “Sunday best”)

There will also be photos on display in the galleries. We are looking to identify people, places, and memories to help tell the story behind the images. Photos may be used for NCHGS’s upcoming permanent exhibition Destination: Northampton County ( a celebration of diversity and immigrant contributions) or archive, or uploaded to Lafayette College’s online archive database.

Light refreshments will be served.

Admission is free or a suggested $3 donation. Donations will benefit the NAACP and our Destination: Northampton County exhibition.
