On May 29, 2024, join our Curator of Exhibitions as we celebrate Jewish American Heritage Month. NCHGS’s permanent exhibit, Destination: Northampton County, shares the stories of those who settled here long ago as well as today, including the remarkable history of one of the oldest Jewish communities in the United States. Imagine coming to America to create a new life. Why would someone leave home? What would you bring on your journey? Where would you go? And how do communities maintain traditions while making home in a new place?
Destination: Northampton County is the recipient of a 2020 Award of Excellence from the American Association for State and Local History (AASLH). The AASLH Leadership in History Awards, now in its 75th year, is the most prestigious recognition for achievement in the preservation and interpretation of state and local history.
