April 5, 2022, 5:00 pm

NCHGS’s In Conversation series brings together community leaders, artists, and activists into dialogue regarding the many issues that affect our communities both past and present.

This installment of In Conversation highlights the work of Dr. Sirry Alang, a Medical Sociologist and Health Services Researcher and Associate Professor of Sociology and Health, Medicine, and Society at Lehigh University. Her work focuses on the social production of health and disease, and the role of social structures and institutions in creating health inequities across the globe. In particular, she explores how racism and other structures of exclusion shape health over the course of life.

Dr. Alang is the founding co-director of the Institute on Critical Race and Ethnic Studies and the chair of the Health Justice Collaborative at Lehigh University.

This conversation will be followed by a Question & Answer period.
