On the second Saturdays of each month, the Sigal Museum will be offering free, walk-in craft projects at a sidewalk table!
Easy Embroidery Stitches: How to Embroider a Bumble Bee
Embroidery, or stitch-work was important to women in Colonial America as a skill for making their own clothing and as a form of self-expression. One of the most common types of embroidery was called a “sampler” which showed off your knowledge of different stitches, which this bumble bee embroidery will do. A common bee here in Northampton County is the eastern carpenter bee.
Your kit will include: cotton fabric with an image of a bumble bee, black, yellow and white embroidery thread, and 2 needles, an embroidery hoop and instructions on 3 simple stitches: the satin stitch, the lazy daisy, and the back stitch.
When your project is complete, take a picture and send it to Education Program Coordinator, Beth Krumholz, at beth@northamptonctymuseum.org to be included in our kids online gallery soon to come!
