Since 1906, Northampton County Historical and Genealogical Society (NCHGS) has collected, preserved, and showcased American history made in Northampton County.
We serve as your stewards of history, and right now we all have an opportunity to record, collect, and preserve world history made in Northampton County. We share these stories as part of our mission to encourage personal reflection, community dialogue, and an understanding of history’s impact on our lives.
People across the world are facing the novel coronavirus or COVID-19 pandemic. In this time of social isolation, however, the global community remains connected by this new, shared reality. And we hope to document this historic event together.
The COVID Chronicles seeks to capture the stories of how the coronavirus impacts county residents in real time. We urge our community members to keep a daily journal of your experiences. Once it is safe to do so, NCHGS will ask residents to submit their journals for preservation in Sigal Museum’s archives for future generations. They may be written accounts, photo or art journals, scrapbooks, or audio – whatever inspires you!
Earlier during the shutdown, NCHGS published a series of daily prompts to help encourage participants to write.
