Warehouse Valley: A Changing Landscape – Members Opening

September 26, 2024, 4:00-7:00 pm

On Thursday evening, September 26, NCHGS members and the public are invited to an opening of our newest exhibit, Warehouse Valley: A Changing Landscape!

Comparing historic landscape images of the Lehigh Valley with modern photographs of the same location today, Warehouse Valley: A Changing Landscape poses questions to our community about our ever-evolving surroundings.

NCHGS’s Curator of Collections, Monica Bugbee, and Curator of Exhibitions, Tim Betz, will walk you through the planning and implementation processes of this exhibit.

Also opening this evening is the companion exhibit, “I saw Easton the way it could be:” TIM HARE. This exhibit explores the life and impact of Tim Hare (1947-2020), an artist and architect who made his home in Easton. Tim was a driving force in historic preservation and community revitalization in Easton after urban renewal. As an artist, he saw the beauty in his local community. As a husband, Tim advocated for marriage equality and basic civil rights for the Lehigh Valley’s LGBTQ+ community. Through artifacts and oral history, the exhibit highlights the significant impact one person can have on their community.

If you have not yet joined us in membership, our team will be on hand to walk you through our multiple levels and benefits.

NCHGS members free; $10.00 for non-members.

Doors open at 4:00pm. Light refreshments will be offered. Join us as we explore our rapidly changing landscape, question urban development, and explore the geographic role of the Lehigh Valley.
