Passport to History Day

April 27, 2019, 10:00 am – 4:00 pm

Passport to History Day is a celebration of the sites, stories, and community that bring Lehigh Valley history to life. Once per year, local historic and cultural sites open their doors with free admission, tours, activities, and programs for explorers of all ages. NCHGS’s activities are listed below, but we invite you to visit www.lvhistory.org to browse all the day’s events.

Or download a map and list of the day’s activities here.

This year, visitors can tour a log cabin, a one-room schoolhouse, historic houses, mills, and museums, a 1758 inn, a Pennsylvania longrifle museum, the lost village of Uhlersville, and a historic cemetery. They can see special exhibitions on folk art in the Slate Belt, the Lehigh Valley in the Roaring Twenties, Frank Wyso’s botanical-inspired works, Moravian textiles, and 100 Years of Radio. Visit a Civil War encampment, enjoy a hearth cooking demonstration, or catch a sneak peek of an upcoming colonial dinner theater show. Attend a folk art show-and-tell or programs on historic local photographers, early American clothing, and Vietnam veterans’ experiences. Kids activities include hands-on spinning, weaving, and quilting demonstrations, writing with a quill pen, creating radio sound effects and Morse code, and a colonial dress-up and Selfie Salon.
