Revolutionary Women: Writing About War

March 13, 2021, 2:00 pm, Virtual Program

This virtual program is offered in partnership with the Museum of the American Revolution in Philadelphia, in honor of Women’s History Month.

The American Revolutionary War offered new opportunities for women from all backgrounds. Thousands of women chose sides and contributed to the fight for liberty. They made supplies for the armies, managed and defended their households, and challenged the old political order.

What do their individual experiences – documented in travel diaries, memoirs, court records, and commonplace objects – tell us about the war, its legacy, and the personal cost of living in tumultuous, historic times?
