The Life Behind the Legend: Stitching Betsy Ross’ Story Together – PROGRAM CANCELLED

March 28, 2020, 1:00 pm, at the Bachmann Publick House

The health and safety of our visitors, volunteers, and staff is our highest priority. This program has been cancelled due to the concern over the local spread of the coronavirus. We will update this information as soon as possible if we are able to reschedule.

Betsy Ross is one of the most recognizable figures in American history, but also one of the most misunderstood. How do we as historians interpret the complicated legend – and real working class woman – that is Betsy Ross? This talk will highlight recent exhibitions and interpretations at the Betsy Ross House – what we know, what we don’t know, and what we can learn from the woman behind the legend.
